Job description

The Packaging Supervisor is responsible for overseeing employees in employee safety and food safety of meat products to produce a safe quality product.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Accomplishes manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.

• Maintains staff by selecting, orienting, and training employees; developing personal growth opportunities.

• Maintains workflow by monitoring steps of the process.

• Initiates and fosters a spirit of cooperation within the department and company.

• Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.

· Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.

• Ensures operation of equipment by calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques.

• Evaluate, monitor, and execute labor management utilizing Lean Manufacturing methods whenever possible to increase the completion of tasks effectively and efficiently.

• Exhibit and promote safety within the team, encouraging safe acts and choices to assist in the reduction of unsafe acts and accidents.

• Individuals must conduct themselves in a professional and respectful manner with all Team members at all times.

· Provides manufacturing information by analyzing production performance records and data; answering questions and responding to requests.

· Maintains a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.

· Resolves personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.

· Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Qualifications

· High School Diploma or Equivalent.

· 1-2 years of supervisory experience.

· Ability to train, motivate and supervise personnel in a fair and consistent manner.

· Ability to recognize problem situations and take appropriate resolution steps.

· Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills.

· Bilingual (Spanish) preferred

Other

• Must have a proficient computer and Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, and Excel skills.
• Must be able to work in teams and be self-motivated.
• Communicate in a professional manner.
• Ability to understand or speak Spanish is preferred but not required.
• Must have basic Mathematical skills.
• Work mandatory Saturdays as determined by customer demand.

Working conditions

Some weekends may be required. Working conditions will include extended periods in cold meat packaging environments requiring the use of protective clothing.

Physical requirements

Must be able to perform extensive walking and standing throughout the shift on a daily basis, and may need to lift up to 60 lbs.
