SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of the Building Principal, positions assigned to this classification title perform a variety of duties and responsibilities associated with the enforcement of building rules; building property; student behavior and conduct to assure the safety of students and staff within the building.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervises and monitors the behavior of students during lunch periods, and loading/unloading of buses.
- Assists in the clean-up of tables and lunch areas.
- Monitors the behavior of students in hallways.
- Assures lunchroom behavior is appropriate.
- Handles incidents on school grounds including students to be picked up by parents after dismissal until 5:00pm.
- Monitors the loading/unloading of buses to assure the safety of students.
- Monitors student activity and informs students of inappropriate student behavior.
- Communicates consequences to students for their actions.
- Prepares reports for school administration.
- Assures all students in hallways have passes and reasons for being outside of classroom.
- Maintains after school writeups and logs entries.
- Calls parents to provide information when needed.
- Assists building staff in general clerical and office support activities, as needed.
- Performs other comparable duties of a like or similar nature as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Knowledge of school practices, policies, and administrative guidelines.
- Knowledge of District disciplinary and student conduct rules.
- Knowledge of problem solving and conflict resolution techniques.
- Knowledge of behavioral management strategies, crisis intervention, and methods.
- Knowledge of District policies, guidelines, rules, or philosophy pertaining to discipline and appropriate student behavior and consequences.
- Skill in supervising student behavior and applying consistent consequences for appropriate and inappropriate behaviors.
- Skill in adapting lesson plans to the individual needs of students to facilitate their learning and to assist them in meeting any individual learning plans and objectives.
- Reading and interpreting documents, administrative policies, manuals, department guidelines, and operational procedures.
- Writing routine correspondence, routine reports, memos, documents, charts, or other correspondence/recording keeping requirements of the job.
- Presenting, reintroducing, and reinforcing information in 1:1 and/or small group situations to students, parents, staff, or other employees concerning District/program routines, policies, rules, learning principles, concepts, and other lesson plans.
- Taking instruction and direction from licensed personnel and following classroom/program routines.
- Learning and applying academic subject material relevant to their duties and needed in the reinforcement or tutoring of students.
- Interacting with and serving as a role model concerning learning and behaviors.
- Dealing appropriately with student conflict and behavioral issues consistently and in accordance with District guidelines, disciplinary principles, and/or individual student plans.
- Reinforcing and assisting students in acquiring or performing basic living skills or health needs.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- AA degree or the completion of 60 post-secondary credits in relevant subject areas.
