Overview

Responsible for the physical security of the IDA SAC and STPI during an assigned shift. Responds to alarms and security incidents. This position staffs assigned posts and conducts security checks required by applicable regulations. Completes patrol requirements and sustain stationary positions. Implements pre-arranged procedures during emergency situations, such as fire and evacuations. Provides escort for a variety of uncleared personnel who must conduct business in the facility. Due to the nature of the work and the requirement at times for extended coverage, this position is often required to work overtime hours or hours outside of a regularly scheduled shift.


Responsibilities

Responsible for the physical security of the IDA SAC and STPI during an assigned shift:

  • Visually checks security areas and physically patrol all areas of the building (internally and externally), including the parking garage.
  • Issues, maintains records, and retrieves badges using sign in log sheets and/or computer.
  • Check badges of visitors, contractors and employees and ensures all badges are displayed.
  • Escorts scheduled, unscheduled, and uncleared personnel or visitors around the facility.
  • Performs safe checks, looks for safety hazards, security violations or unauthorized activity, and reports to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Collects bagged classified waste from various locations in the IDA facility for transport to the disintegrator room for destruction.
  • Destroys classified waste via the disintegrator and other required methods of destruction.
  • Maintains and updates the shift log and prepares reports.
  • Maintains stationary posts including the Console Command Center. Uses closed circuit TV (CCTV) video surveillance systems.
  • Performs and annotates, opening and closing of the SCIF. Roving watches inside the SCIF.
  • Responds to alarms within SCIF. Investigate report and take necessary actions.
  • Responds to alarms and emergency situations, operates sprinklers and fire equipment; renders first aid when necessary.

Complies with IDA’s physical security program in accordance with NISPOM (National Industrial Security Operations Procedures Manual) and other US Government regulations.

Works on a rotating shift, dependent on IDA’s business needs. May work independently or with other Physical Security staff.

Performs Personnel Security Administrator duties such as answering phone calls, monitoring electronic access control systems.

Through instruction and on the job training become familiar with security operations manuals, post orders, policies, procedures and instructions, and the physical layout of the facility. This includes building utilities, sprinkler system, machinery, and any special features.

Performs other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one year of work experience, preferably in physical security.
  • Ability to use computer technology with proficiency to include: Microsoft office products, security badge creation software, and other security databases and programs.
  • Great customer service attitude, ability to effectively communicate and follow instructions.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, overtime hours or hours outside of regular schedule.
  • Ability to lift without assistant up to 25 pounds, ability to push/pull up to 100 pounds.
  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position including responding to alarms, walking foot patrols in and around the building and climbing stairs. This requires regular and recurring physical exertion such as long periods of standing, walking, bending and similar activities.
  • Ability to obtain within 6 months of hire CPR certification and First Aid training.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearances. Top Secret with SCI Eligibility preferred.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
