This position is fully remote, but applicant must be willing to adapt EST business hours.
The Senior Accountant (“Accountant”) will receive general supervision and direction from the Controller. The Accountant is responsible for completing assigned tasks and coordinating with others in the department to insure all tasks are completed in a timely manner.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly financial statements during the month-end close for assigned portfolio.
- Maintain general ledger, accounts payable and reconcile bank accounts.
- Review and/or prepare monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
- Reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
- Post transactions including general ledger entries
- Reconcile bank accounts and analyze outstanding items for resolution.
- Review general ledger for possible reclassifications of miscoded entries.
- Prepare year end audit package with in deadlines assigned
- Provide information and explanations to executive officers/owners as requested.
- Provide information to external auditors as requested.
- Set up new mortgage entries in Yardi for posting by the AP Analysts
- Assist Controller in responding to RD, HUD and VHDA as it relates to inquiries for the annual audits
- Assist Controller with submission of annual audits to RD and submission of year end actuals to MINC
- Supervise and direct staff accountants on assigned team
- Review financial reporting packages prepared by assigned staff
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with Multifamily Property Management Accounting (required)
- Experience in Yardi or affordable housing programs) (required)
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (with strong emphasis on Excel)
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to work independently with excellent time management and organizational skills
