We are recruiting for a full-time Senior Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) to join our skilled Inpatient team in Marlton, NJ. This position is 40 hours per week and is eligible for our full benefits package! Duel-Certified Child Life Special strongly encouraged
As a member of our team, you will be responsible for:
- The Senior Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist is an integral member of the Interdisciplinary Team, responsible for the administration of appropriate treatment techniques and modalities for pediatric (re)habilitation of children aged birth to 21 adhering to the scope and standards of practice as defined by the American Therapeutic Recreation Association. This includes the assessment of play, recreation, leisure skills, and psychosocial adjustment to hospitalization. The senior therapeutic recreational specialist facilitates therapy, leisure education, and recreation participation. Professional judgment, problem solving techniques and time-management principles are used to achieve quality outcomes for each patient. The Sr. TR participates in patient and family teaching and works collaboratively with other disciplines on the interdisciplinary team to maintain optimal standards of patient care and assure carryover of treatment plans/goals as indicated.
- In addition to the planning / implementation of treatment programs, and overall treatment, case management, the Sr. TR also oversees operational issues including but not limited to, assisting in the scheduling of patients, monitoring staff activities and ordering of equipment/supplies for the TR department. The senior TR handles operational departmental duties/issues in the Director’s absence
- Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation from an accredited program
- Certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist by NCTRC
- Certification as CCLS preferred
- CPR/BLS Certification
- Experience working with children with disabilities or chronic illness.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with healthcare providers and the general public
- Ability to function independently, and as a member of the TR/CL and/or Interdisciplinary team
- Strong organizational / time management skills
- For Telehealth Services: If treating a patient that is physically located outside of New Jersey, the treating therapist must comply by the rules in accordance with the state certification board in the state where the patient is physically located
