Job Purpose

The purpose of this position is to contribute to the design, development and manufacturing of world class rail products and services vital to our customer’s needs through the application of specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities. Work involves independent judgement, decision making, and creativity. Management is available to provide additional guidance for unusual situations.

Key Job Elements

Perform locomotive crash simulations and structural analyses per FRA, AAR, EN, AS/RISSB for locomotives. This role will support North American and international market segments.

A senior level engineer will have advising other project engineers in component design and technical guidance for locomotive design to meet crash standards. Multiple projects will be worked simultaneously;

Applicant must be capable of providing technical analysis, reports and presentations based on customer requirements;

Guide the design of the product to minimize cost and schedule;

Conduct field testing for demonstration of contract requirements and for certification purposes;

Organize meetings with customers, vendors, and certifying agencies, making presentations and negotiating technical issues;

Organizing many tasks into a timeline. Holding required meetings with project team to ensure specification compliance and project execution in accordance with time and budget restrictions;

Domestic and international travel as required. This travel should not exceed 10% of employee’s time.

Education / Training

Required:

  • MS Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, or equivalent).

Qualifications and Experience

Required:

  • Knowledge of transportation vehicle crash analysis;
  • High level of analytical abilities where problems are very complex crash simulations;

· Knowledge mechanics of solids for material modeling, nonlinear behavior in crash simulations;

· Knowledge of energy transfer between bodies during collisions;

· Familiar with analytical tools like DYNA3D, ANSYS, or equivalent softwares;

  • High level of written, oral communication and presentation skills;
  • Strong personal skills and the ability to work in groups;

Preferred:

· Locomotive systems experience, or previous job assignments in multiple engineering disciplines;

· Familiarity with engineering processes and systems;

· Familiarity with international standards and regulations (FRA, AAR, EN, AS/RISSB);

· Prior experience in testing, commissioning, or field service engineering.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
