Summary:
The Senior DevOps Engineer will utilize previous experience and skills in automation, configuration management, and analytics to drive the efficiency of a high-volume, highly available suite of applications. The sphere of responsibilities will include supporting the setup and deployment of development, testing and production environments, as well as the monitoring and ongoing maintenance of those systems. They will formulate new methods for improving systems and processes, including using new and existing toolsets. They will also be leaned on to share their knowledge with those around them, both in formal and informal training sessions. Utilizing a mindset of continuous improvement, the Senior DevOps Engineer will perpetually analyze current operations to find and improve upon system process, performance, costs, quality, and capability.
Qualified applicants should have a proven ability to think critically and strategically to design, implement and maintain a complete deployment process using proven tools that allow for continuous integration and continuous delivery within a medium to large SaaS organization. Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of best practices that allow SaaS systems to maintain high availability, security, and scalability.
Responsibilities:
- Actively support efforts to simplify and enhance development, testing, and production environments.
- Conduct or even lead design sessions with appropriate participation from peers.
- Maintain existing infrastructure as well as build new solutions supporting the software teams.
- Troubleshoot environment issues and outages bringing swift resolution in each case.
- Participate in an on-call rotation with peers.
- Attend and participate in SCRUM ceremonies including standups, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and innovation meetings.
- Document new and existing systems, tools, configurations, and upgrades.
- Design and implement change and control policies as well as disaster recovery plans.
- Monitors and assists in managing applications, device availability, network conditions and status, system reliability and performance, service and program maintenance, and storage resources.
- Perform other duties as requested by the supervisor.
- All other duties as assigned.
Experience/Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in a DevOps or relevant position.
- One or more cloud technology platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) with AWS as a preference.
- One or more DevOps, Orchestration/Configuration Management, and Continuous Integration technology (e.g. Chef, Puppet, Docker, Jenkins, Ansible, etc.)
- Linux experience (Ubuntu, CentOS, RedHat) with CentOS as a preference.
- One or more Web and Application Server technologies (e.g. Apache HTTPD, Apache Tomcat, Nginx).
- One or more scripting languages (e.g. Bash, PowerShell, Python).
- Networking protocols such as HTTP, DNS, and TCP/IP.
- One or more version control platforms (e.g. Git, GitLab, SVN) with GitLab as a preference.
- Experience managing full application stacks from the OS up through custom applications.
- Programming language experience (e.g. PHP, JavaScript, node.js).
- Exposure to Virtualization (Hypervisors, VMware).
- Understand the complete deployment lifecycle from design, build, test, and deployment.
- Familiarity with blue-green and other deployment strategies, as well as release management technologies a plus.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Science, Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- AWS Certifications a plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $110,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
