Girl Scouts of Western Washington is adding to our Philanthropy team as a Senior Director of Donor Relations. The Senior Director of Donor Relations Manager is responsible for developing and implementing engagement and fundraising strategies to enhance and grow revenue and cultivate and develop relationships with alumnae, lifetime, and planned giving donors. Paramount to this position is the ability to work with a high degree of independence and juggle various projects at once while maintaining a clear view of how each project supports the organization’s mission. Periodic travel to participate in meetings and training across Western Washington is required. This is a regular, full-time position with requirements to being or becoming a WA resident.

Requirements:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (This list may not include all the duties assigned)

  • Support pipeline for individual donors, expanding their relationship with and commitment to the organization. Coordinate engagement pathways such as monthly giving online, peer-to-peer engagement, direct mail, email, phone, planned giving and personal asks.
  • Attend council-wide events where alum, lifetime, and planned giving donors naturally gather to strategically cultivate and strengthen relationships and advance philanthropy efforts.
  • Design, document, and implement a systematic and integrated planned giving donor relations program.
  • Identify donors who have the capacity to provide major gifts.
  • Manage stewardship/engagement activities for Alum and Lifetime members.
  • Recruit strategic participation for council-wide fundraising events
  • Create and maintain departmental materials to aid in communication, solicitation, and cultivation of individuals.
  • Maintain up-to-date donor records in our CRM to support dashboarding, goal-setting, and proper succession planning. Provide professional assistance and interaction with donors (via phone, computer, and face-to-face).
  • Provide support when acknowledging appropriate financial and in-kind donations by correspondence.
  • Solicit in-kind donations for various events.
  • Carry out additional assignments as required to meet council or organization goals and objectives.
  • Active participation in the development of environments that foster diversity, equity, inclusion, and access through words, actions, and attitude.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in fundraising and donor cultivation

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • 3-5 years of experience as a fundraiser specializing in individual giving.
  • Prior experience in database management as well as knowledge of CRM database required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills that are effective with a diverse range of audiences including board members, volunteers, internal staff, donors, executives, potential fundraising partners, and all constituencies.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and execute responsibilities in the face of conflicting priorities.
  • Exceptional understanding of philanthropy as it relates to the not-for-profit organization and a wide and deep knowledge of fundamental disciplines of resource development.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team; detail-oriented, well organized, focused and goal-oriented, with a high level of initiative and energy, as well as problem solving skills.
  • The knowledge and ability to create, execute and/or support, and oversee a comprehensive donor acknowledgement and recognition plan, including advising on complex and carefully orchestrated cultivation events and programs for the major donors.
