Senior Electronic Health Records Specialist
Full Time (Monday-Friday)
Health Partners of Western Ohio is looking for a Senior Electronic Health Records Specialist to work at their Administrative Offices in Lima, Ohio. The Senior Electronic Health Records Specialist is responsible to review and monitor documentation in patient records and clinical data reporting and reporting tools, to ensure quality of care, compliance with regulatory agencies and third-party payers. They also serve as an EHR Super User including development and oversight of health information systems used by HPWO.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports open patient access to and coordination of care that is supported by information technology.
  • Promotes effective and appropriate use of integrated health services at HPWO as part of a “Patient Centered Medical Home” (PCMH) model of care.
  • Actively participate and supervise in clinical data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Maintains updated knowledge of HRSA clinical measures and goals.
  • Actively participates on special quality initiatives such as learning collaboratives, patient-centered medical home projects, EHR meaningful use programs, third-party payer initiatives, etc.
  • Continually assesses the HPWO health records process for performance improvement opportunities in document management for both the receipt and transfer of information from various stakeholders.
  • Supervises the release of information requests in an accurate and professional manner within timeframes established by HPWO policies, to persons and agencies requesting such information.
  • Supervises the day-to-day activities, establishes work schedules, assignments and expectations for the health information staff.
  • Supervises departmental day-to-day record completion, storage and retrieval.
  • Adheres to Health Partners of Western Ohio’s policies, as well as state and federal regulatory guidelines, surrounding the release of protected health information.
  • Serves as an active member on the QI Committee and participates in quality improvement activities including goal setting, process improvement, and reporting.
  • Assists with the coordination of accreditation/recognition requirements per accrediting/recognizing organizations (i.e. Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) and National Center of Quality Assurance (NCQA) Standards). Trains staff as necessary on new regulations of these organizations.
  • Serves as a Clinical Super User of the EHR system including template development, provider set up and training, managing trouble tickets, reporting, meaningful use dashboard set up and maintenance, communicating changes to all staff on EHR upgrades.
  • Participates in continuing education and professional growth opportunities.
  • Adheres to the standards and policies of the Organizational Privacy/Security and Compliance Programs, including the duty to comply with applicable laws and regulations (OSHA, OIG, guidelines, and other State and Federal laws). This also includes reporting to the Board of Directors, Compliance Officer, Privacy Officer, supervisor or suggestion box, any suspected unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful acts or practices.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • One to three years full-time experience in using EHR system.
  • Strong computer experience required including use of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Greenway PrimeSuite system.
  • Strong analytic and organizing skills.
  • Ability to work with a culturally diverse group of people.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
