The Department of Economic Security is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Senior GIS Analyst with the Division of Financial Operations.

Job Duties:
  • Manage all GIS projects that support the Department’s operations and studies.
  • Work with various internal and external contacts to complete the projects.
  • Serve as System Administrator for GIS-related Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) software.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
  • Knowledge of extensive GIS systems, spatial data, database management systems, and development platforms.
  • Knowledge of guidelines and established methods to create and manage GIS output.
  • Knowledge of database management systems and the use of database and spreadsheet software.
  • Skill in soliciting customer feedback to improve service.
  • Skill in interpersonal, written, and oral communication.
  • Skill in developing, writing, and updating complex technical documentation.
  • Ability to create and display data using advanced mapping.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in teams and across organizations.
  • Ability to build strong relationships inside and outside the organization.
  • Ability to manipulate complex geospatial aspects of data.

Selective Preference(s):
  • Advanced GIS software training (modeling and database integration). Demonstrated knowledge and work experience using ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Enterprise.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Geographical Information Sciences or Geospatial Technology; or five (5) or more years of GIS and analysis experience (or equivalent experience).
  • Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired State employees.
  • Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.
  • The position will require the possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete any driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12). Individuals may be required to use their personal motor vehicle.

Retirement:

State employees are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS), the State-sponsored retirement contribution plan, and the Long-Term Disability (LTD) program after a 27-week waiting period. The ASRS defined benefit plan provides for life-long income upon retirement. You will also have the option to participate in a voluntary deferred compensation program to take advantage of tax-deferred retirement investments.
