Rural Neighborhoods, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit housing and community development organization, seeks an experienced accountant skilled in senior accounting professional and/or construction accountant to join our award-winning charitable group. Based in Miami-Dade County and serving communities throughout Florida, the successful candidate will have dual accounting duties supporting the Chief Financial Officer in broad corporate accounting and audit fields and managing the accounts for various construction projects by creating detailed budgets, tracking predevelopment expenses, processing construction progress payments with lenders and investors and reviewing lien releases.
To ensure success as a senior and construction accountant, a candidate should display excellent business acumen and the ability to meet high audit standards through efficient and effective accounting. Ultimately, a top-notch accountant is an analytical and detail-oriented individual with a high level of financial accuracy.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with real estate development staff to develop a detailed, cost-effective budget for individual multifamily rental projects.
- Perform accounting duties throughout the project such as preparing invoices, estimating cash flow, and signing off on purchase orders.
- Analyze all transactions and work unforeseen costs into the budget.
- Keep a record of all project finances for internal/external auditing and tax purposes.
- Prepare cost analyses by interpreting projects' financial data and information.
- Report financial risks and budgetary discrepancies to management for review.
- Keep abreast with both the construction and nonprofit accounting industry.
Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- MBA, CPA, or CMA a plus
- Experience in construction accounting is preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in private or public accounting.
- Excellent knowledge of nonprofit and/or construction cost accounting and related financial procedures.
- Familiarity with accounting software
- Working knowledge of the nonprofit sector and/or construction industry.
- Solid analytical and mathematical skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
