Position Summary
Coordinate the daily operations of a clinical research study in the Department of Emergency Medicine. This position will directly coordinate regular research meetings, participant recruitment, enrollment and follow-up, scheduling of research activities, IRB management, data collection, interview transcription, and assist with the management of audio, video, and mixed reality technologies. The Research Coordinator will be responsible for making sure that all clinical research activities are conducted in a professional manner that is compliant with all human research subject regulations. The Research Coordinator will work closely with the PI and Co-PI to conduct literature reviews, manage budgets, and coordinate student researchers.
The Research Coordinator will assist research faculty and affiliated fellows and residents in the design and analysis of research projects. The Research Coordinator will keep a copy of all IRB forms and protocols to ensure that all of the clinical research being conducted is compliant with IRB requirements. The Research Coordinator will manage IRB forms and protocols and provide support during the writing of grant applications. Finally, the Research Coordinator will participate in conference calls to other study sites and with sponsor. The Research Coordinator will monitor new grant opportunities and support faculty in proposal development.
The Research Coordinator will work primarily with the principal investigator and co-investigators of the primary study but will also work with other members of Section of Innovative Practice and Telehealth.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assist the principal investigator with the management of day-to-day operations related to clinical research projects in the ED.
- Assist with the design of data collection instruments and protocols.
- Prepare new IRB submissions and update required modifications, continuing reviews, and reportable events.
- Provide support to manuscript and grant writing.
- Maintain daily communication with research assistants and research coordinators regarding enrollment.
- Maintain daily communication with the PI to complete tasks as assigned.
- Oversees a team of Research Assistants.
- Oversees, with the Finance Manager of Emergency Medicine, grant budgets.
Qualifications
Education
- BA or BS degree required, preferably in Public Health or related field
- Master's degree highly preferred in a related field.
Experience
- Prior experience in clinical research projects.
- Computer literacy with Microsoft Word and Excel is required for this position.
