As the head of communications, this leader is responsible for overseeing a broad range of external and internal corporate communications activities, including strategic media relations, public affairs, crisis communications, executive positioning and executive communications. This position will report into the Chief Marketing Officer within the Publicis Groupe’s creative agencies pillar and will support multiple agency brands within that pillar.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Executive Leadership Team to develop and drive strategic communications plans and metrics
- Apply a consultative approach to drive external and PR strategies and tactics for multiple agency brands in partnership with brand marketing and communications leads
- Establish and grow relationships with key members of the press, media outlets, and social platforms both inside and outside of the industry
- Drive and elevate external visibility of the agencies and our thought leaders via submissions for speaking engagements, industry honors, editorial opportunities, etc.
- Write content for a variety of platforms including speeches, senior leadership messages, press releases, Q&A, key messages, award entries, and blog and social media posts
- Manage internal communications efforts to advance agency culture and morale and inform our employee population
- Oversee the planning and execution of internal and external events
- Be a key partner for Business Development in communicating our story across current and prospective clients
- Accountable for an advanced KPI framework that leads to growth impact rather than just impressions
- Manage and develop a team that supports the agencies in the areas of corporate communications, social media and reputation management
- 15+ years of experience crafting, leading, and driving marketing communications and public relations for a large, complex, matrixed organization, preferably within the advertising, technology, or innovation industries
- Deep experience building and cultivating relationships with members of the media/press as well as an extensive list of contacts both in the advertising industry and across the general business/technology/media space
- Experience collaborating with executive leadership teams and senior management to develop, evaluate, assess, and execute communication strategies
- Stellar writing skills with an ability to succinctly craft pitches, bylines, articles, press releases, memos, speeches, blog posts, emails, and other communications in a variety of tones and voices
- Experience leading the internal/corporate communications function for an organization with multiple divisions
- A desire to serve in a player-coach capacity as both a strategic leader and communications expert
- Very strong verbal communication skills with proven experience presenting effectively to varied audiences
- Outstanding listener with an ability to understand, interpret, and assess the impact of potential communication strategies within the industry and across the larger business community
- Extensive knowledge of industry trends and the current business, economic, and political climate
- A high degree of political and business savvy with an ability to navigate complex organizational structures, understand and prioritize multiple concurrent needs, and develop communications strategies that will help advance the reputation and drive growth for the agency
- Stellar organization and time management skills
- Prior experience mentoring and leading other employees strongly preferred
- Portfolio of writing samples and examples of prior media placements required
Additional Information
While someone local to New York City is preferred, candidates located in other major metro markets will also be considered.
Compensation Range: $167,000 - $299,500 annually. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. For this role, the Company will offer medical coverage, dental, vision, disability, 401k, and paid time off.
