We are searching for a Service Writer to become a part of our quickly growing team. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented and organized with strong customer service and multi-tasking capabilities.
Reports to: Service Manager
Job Summary:
· Generate timely quotes and provide follow through to achieve a high close rate.
· Prepare, track, manage and provide customer estimates for service repairs.
· Work directly with technicians to produce accurate estimates in the shortest possible time.
· Work with Parts department to identify and price needed parts.
· Coordinate efforts with service managers, dispatchers, parts personnel, customer service reps, and administrators.
· Verify warranty and service contract coverage.
· Obtain approval signatures and/or purchase orders.
· Obtain and maintain customer contact information.
· Maintain constant communication with customers for estimate scheduling, completion dates and approvals.
· Provide pricing for on-site quoting by mechanics.
· Keep customers informed and engaged regarding the maintenance or repair of their forklift.
Summary of Essential Job Functions:
· Develop estimates by costing parts, materials, supplies and labor.
· Write descriptions for symptoms, problems, and causes discovered as well as repairs and services provided.
· Identify parts and describe repairs on work orders.
· Review maintenance records and work orders for additional repair opportunities.
· Research customer truck history to provide recommendations and maintenance alerts leading to increased customer satisfaction and aftermarket sales opportunities.
· Keep technicians aware of time allowed for each job so they do not go over quote.
· Address any credit management issues between customer and accounting.
· Maintain a quote log and track the number of work orders generated, the number of quotes generated, the number of quotes closed or sold, the reason quotes were not closed, and the total sales generated.
Minimum Requirements:
2 years or more experience working in a forklift or automotive dealership service department.
Abilities Required:
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and writing. Strong mechanical background. Familiar with parts specifying. Strong organizational skills. Computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
