Job description
The Training Simulator Testing unit is responsible for deploying state-of-the-art, high fidelity simulators for the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program (NNPP). These simulators fulfill a critical training need to ensure effective and efficient qualification of Naval Nuclear Operators in the NNPP training program. In this position, the engineer will support aspects of initial design, testing, and deployment of the simulators to the NNPP training commands in Charleston, SC and West Milton, NY. This position has high visibility and will require close interaction and coordination with other engineers at NNL as well as interfacing with external organizations, including Naval Reactors.
This position will require some travel.
Job Requirements:
Senior:
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering or science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of six years of relevant experience; or
- Bachelor's degree in a technical related field from an accredited college or university with qualification as a Naval Nuclear Plant Operator and a minimum of six years of relevant experience based on an exceptional performance trend; or
- Master's degree in engineering or science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of four years of relevant experience; or
- Master's degree in a technical related field from an accredited college or university with qualifications as a Naval Nuclear Plant Operator and a minimum of four years of relevant experience based on an exceptional performance trend; or
- Currently or previously Shift Supervisor Part I qualified or EDO and two years as EOOW in the Nuclear Operations Program; or
- Three years as SRE plus Watch Instructor and Refueling Facility Area Refueling Engineer and Fuel and Barrier Shift Supervisor (ECF only), or SRE qualified and six years of experience
Principal:
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering or science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of nine years of relevant experience; or
- Bachelor's degree in a technical related field from an accredited college or university with qualification as a Naval Nuclear Plant Operator and a minimum of nine years of relevant experience based on an exceptional performance trend; or
- Master's degree in engineering or a science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of seven years of relevant experience; or
- Master's degree in a technical related field from an accredited college or university with qualifications as a Naval Nuclear Plant Operator and a minimum of seven years of relevant experience based on an exceptional performance trend; or
- Currently or previously Shift Supervisor Part II qualified or qualified SIT and three years as EOOW in the Nuclear Operations Program; or
- Current or previous CRE Qualification, or six years as SRE, or SRE qualified with nine years of experience
