Job description
Performs Diagnostic, Titration, Split night, MSLT and MWT Sleep Studies in a correct and timely fashion. Will be responsible for scoring studies.
Responsibilities:
- Insure that all patients are treated with courtesy and respect.
- Insure that all coworkers are treated with dignity and respect.
- Listen to voice messages and reply as necessary, including schedule and reschedule of studies.
- Attempts to locate No Shows and to fill unexpected openings using the cancellation list.
- Review history and physical information, medications, procedure request and study protocol.
- Explain the procedure and orient the patient to the Sleep Health Center.
- Assure proper completion of patient paperwork, especially consent forms and questionnaires.
- Prepare and calibrate equipment required for testing to determine proper function, make adjustments if necessary. Machine calibrations to be done pre and post study.
- Perform measurements with the 10-20 system and perform technically correct hook-up and recording of polysomnograph.
- Perform Biocalibrations before and after study. Make necessary adjustments if indicated.
- Follow the appropriate procedural policy for the type of sleep study performed, includes oxygen protocol and HST.
- Implement appropriate interventions (including actions necessary for patient safety and therapeutic intervention such as CPAP, BiLevel, Auto SV and oxygen administration).
- Recognize and responds to serious medical problems per protocol and notifies the on-call physician as needed.
- Upon completion of study and calibrations, removes patient leads and answers patient questions.
- Cleans and processes equipment, masks, electrodes and wires.
- Cleans and make patient beds.
- Completes documentation in patient?s chart, including thorough and concise post study report.
- Complete billing super bill and place in SHC Mail slot.
- Maintains a neat and orderly work area.
- Scoring and staging of sleep studies utilizing AASM score criteria per AASM standards.
- Generate polysomnogram report.
- Back up of RAW and/or scored study data and video onto external drive.
- Demonstrates competency in the assessment, range of treatment, knowledge of growth and development and communication appropriate to the age of the patient treated.
- Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the Sleep Health Center.
- Complies with Respiratory Specialist departmental policies regarding attendance and dress code.
- Performs any and all duties as assigned.

Making a technically correct hook up of patient to achieve stable and accurate tracings.
Accurate staging and scoring of sleep studies.
Ability to assess patient?s status and act accordingly, including life threatening arrhythmias
