JOB TITLE :
  • SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST
REPORTS TO :
  • Rehabilitation Manager/Administrator

QUALIFICATIONS :
  • Graduate of an accredited education course in speech and language pathology.
  • Licensed in the state in which they will be practicing.
  • Meets one of the following requirements: The education and experience requirements for a Certificate of Clinical Competence in (speech-language pathology) granted by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association; or meets the educational requirements for certification and is in the process of accumulating the supervised experience required for certification
  • Must not be excluded or sanctioned from state or federal program.
  • Demonstrate professional attitude and appearance.
  • Proficient administrative and communication within department and facility and company.
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles, methods, materials, and equipment used in the practice of their discipline.
  • Display working knowledge of multidisciplinary practice scopes in the Outpatient, ALF, ILF and/or LTC setting.
  • Thorough knowledge of all payer source documentation and payment requirements.
  • Ability to use analytical skills to develop outcome driven solutions.
  • Prior EMR/computer experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
  • Must be able to walk, sit, stand, stoop, squat, bend, lift, push, pull, balance, and perform overhead activity without restriction or limitation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Must uphold the professional, legal and ethical standards of practice for speech and language pathology as defined by the ASHA and State Practice Act
  • Responsible for service and operational excellence of all assigned activities to ensure the delivery of quality services and/or outcomes required to meet or exceed the expectations of those utilizing or impacted by the rehab department
  • Performs initial patient examination, evaluation, interpretation of referrals, and creates the initial plan of care for each patient and revises as appropriate
  • Creates and maintains a patient record for each patient treats
  • Provides on-site assessment and re-evaluation of each patient’s treatment according to the State or Federal required interval, whichever is more stringent, and adjusts the treatment plan as appropriate
