This is a Summer 2023 Position
EMO is responsible for the oversight of Summit Operations Center (SOC) operations and staffing. Must maintain competent SOC coverage 24hrs per/day when participants are on property. EMO shall ensure that all informational updates are communicated to appropriate personnel and between SOC Communicators. EMO is responsible for monitoring performance of SOC staff and providing leadership and direction for day-to-day operations and emergency situations that may arise e.g. severe weather, lost participant, medical response & etc.
Reports to: SBR Health & Safety Manager
Principle Responsibilities:
- Ensure competent coverage of Summit Operations Center 24 hrs. Per/day when participants are on site.
- Monitor critical factors influencing Summit Bechtel Reserve (SBR) Operations such as, but not limited to, emergency medical response, severe weather, special events, transportation and participant movement, action area operational status and site security.
- Provide clear, concise, and timely communications via; Message management system, two-way radio, IM, texting, email, and PA system as needed.
- Ensure proper and timely input of all incidents in computer log system.
- Provide pertinent operational information to SBR leadership.
- Prepare an end of season review of SOC operations and staff, including recommendations for improvements.
Qualifications & Training:
- Must be at least 21 years of age by the start of employment
- Must be able to effectively manage flow of information from multiple sources, prioritize communications and appropriate response/dispatch protocols
- Must be able to communicate effectively on two-way radio (verbal), in written form (email, IM and Word) and in person with staff, peers and guests/customers
- Must be able to obtain a SBR driving permit by submitting driving record and successfully completing in-house safe driving course
- Must complete NIMS 100, 200 700 and 800 IS-2200
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and handle materials up to 70 lbs
- Must be able to work shift work
- Must meet the Summit Bechtel Reserve's high adventure height/weight requirements as laid out in the Summit BSA Health & Medical Record
Uniform: Summit Staff Uniform
- SBR polo or BSA Field Uniform (Scouts BSA, Venturing, or Sea Scout)
- Shorts/Pants should be of the appropriate length/size/appropriateness for a Scouting setting.
- Shoes should be closed-toe, neat/clean and show the appearance of being new or slightly worn.
