services needed for a vibrant rural economy. The Farm MIT contributes to our mission by
providing leadership and direction for barn employees, providing care for pigs, and producing a
quality meat product right in our rural community that feeds the world.
As a Farm MIT, a typical day may include the following:
- Work closely with a current farm manager or production supervisor to learn the ins and
- Take initiative to learn how to oversee all sections of the sow farm including all areas of
- Provide leadership for the farm staff, scheduling of farm staff, delegation of work
- Shipping and receiving animals
- Heat checking and breeding sows and gilts
- Assisting with the birthing process of sows and gilts and caring for piglets
- Cleaning facilities including power-washing
- Keeping detailed, accurate records that comply with Holden Farms
- Ensuring all animals are receiving proper feed, water, and ventilation
- Understand and follow WFR’s biosecurity protocol, must shower in and out
- Work an early morning to mid afternoon shift, schedule specific to each farm
