Guest Service staff members must be prepared to work in an exciting and fast-paced environment. Joining the Event Center team at UVU means exposing yourself to some of the best concerts, shows, athletics, expos, and parties in Utah Valley. As a staff member of Utah County’s premier event center, you join us in ensuring a positive, safe experience for our hundreds of thousands of patrons annually.
Guest Service Ushers contribute to the successful execution of events by ensuring the safety of guests and compliance with campus, state, and industry protocols. Verifying correct tickets, helping patrons locate seats, providing information on events, assists in parking areas, clearing arena, making lasting positive relationships, and other duties as assigned are all crucial daily activities for Event Ushers.

Required Qualifications
Graduation with a high school diploma or GED.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge:
- Knowledge and understanding of, sensitivity to, and appreciation for the diverse ethnic, socioeconomic, disability, and gender diversity of guests and staff attending or working with the UCCU Center and Utah Valley University.
- Knowledge of suspicious activity and behaviors.
- Knowledge of where to find help with ticketing issues, an unruly guest, a medical emergency etc.
Skills:
- Skills in effectively dealing with a wide variety of personalities and situations requiring diplomacy, tact, friendliness, poise and firmness.
- Fantastic communication and social skills, including the ability to listen and deescalate tense
- Problem solving skills.
- Interpersonal verbal communication and decision making skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
Abilities:
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, busy environment with environmental conditions such as noise, dark/dim/absence of lighting etc.
- Ability to stay calm in an emergency or confrontational situation.
- Ability to present a professional, polished appearance.
- Ability to follow written and verbal procedures.
- Ability to meet and work with people of diverse backgrounds.
- Able to be attentive to, aware of, and available to assist patrons.

Benefits Summary
You may be eligible for a 3 credit hour or 1 class tuition waiver after 6 consecutive months of employment and a minimum of 475 hours worked. Dependents do not qualify for a waiver.
