Responsibilities:
As prime contractor on the Peraton Space Exploration Networks Services and Evolution (SENSE) contract, Peraton is responsible for the operation, maintenance, sustainment and systems engineering of NASA’s worldwide satellite communication networks. Join the SENSE team to support NASA programs that integrate with state-of-the-art RF satellite communications systems and technologies. In this position, you will become part of NASA’s return to the moon, support new earth and space science missions, and launch vehicles. This position provides support to the NASA GSFC Spectrum Management Office in the area of frequency spectrum management and will require learning about satellite and terrestrial communications systems (including link budgets, general radio theory and basic orbital mechanics), and domestic and international regulations governing the use of the radio frequency spectrum and satellite orbits.
Peraton is seeking a
Jr. Level Spectrum Management Engineer in
Greenbelt, MD to support the Space Exploration Network Services and Evolution contract (SENSE). This position will allow for primarily remote telework, with travel to the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD and other NASA locations as needed, and will require a person who is within a commutable distance locally; a fully remote hire may also be considered.

- Provide support in the acquisition, maintenance, and protection of RF spectrum resources in order to ensure that terrestrial and space communications systems can operate to their fullest capacity
- Work with NASA projects to develop national and international filings required to register communications systems, and perform related frequency selection analyses
- Maintain information about NASA and other systems in various internal and external databases, to be used for intersystem coordination activities
- Perform Radio Frequency interference and compatibility analysis for Space based communication systems.
- Conduct technical studies and prepare analysis packages for coordination meetings with other agencies, including DoD, DoC, ESA, and JAXA.
- Perform studies related to digital communications, RF system analysis, FEC coding, and communications engineering.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or other related technical field from an accredited University, and 2+ years of related engineering experience; or a MS degree and 0 - 2+ experience
- Knowledge of MATLAB or MS Excel
- Able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance; in order to obtain a clearance, you need to be a U.S. Citizen and show proof of citizenship.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE
- Experience in Spectrum Management Engineering
- Knowledge of Satellite Tool Kit (STK), Visualyse, and/or Simulink
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills

Salary Range: Salary Minimum: $40,000 Salary Mid: $80,000 Salary Maximum: $100,000 The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position, and is just one component of Peraton's total compensation package for employees.
