Job description
Provide speech and language services to elementary school-age students. Performance responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 1.Provides high quality, direct speech-language therapy services to students according to students IEPs;2.Conducts assessments, analyzes results, and writes reports to determine strengths and concerns in areas of speech, voice, fluency, pragmatics, language, and oral motor skills;3.Ensures evaluations, treatment plans, and service delivery are aligned with school, state, and federal guidelines;4.Consults with teaching teams to develop and implement curriculum modifications and appropriate classroom strategies, such as visual supports, oral motor exercises, language strips, augmentative communications systems, topics of conversation, and data collection;5.Develops speech and language programs to meet the language needs of students with autism spectrum disorders;6.Manages a detailed log of services provided;7.Documents all aspects of work/IEPs with students in database management system according to school and state guidelines;8.Communicates and coordinates with Director of Special Education to ensure school mission, philosophy, and procedures are embraced;9.Maintains appropriate, confidential records and provides timely reports;10.Keeps abreast of best practices in speech and language therapy and language development;11.Engages parents and families in their childs learning;12.Coordinates with outside speech and language providers language programs when necessary;13.Contributes productively to the school as a whole.14.Assumes such other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Special Education or Principal.The responsibilities and duties listed are illustrations of the various types of work performed.
