Position: Speech Language Pathologist
Serving Fayette County Public Schools
Job Summary: The Speech Language Pathologist provides services as an employee of STAFFEZ serving Fayette County Public Schools. The responsibilities of a Speech Language Pathologist are to work in cooperation with appropriate district supervisors, teachers, parents, and students, shall be responsible for providing diagnostic and intervention services for students with speech, language, and hearing disorders helping students to adjust and access the general education curriculum.
Starting Date: Immediate Until Filled
Work Year, Hours & Compensation: Hours vary depending on assignment. Pay $40.00 - $56.00 per hour depending on qualifications and experience. Employment is based on 175 days per year during a 10-month period.
FSLA: Non-Exempt
Essential Job Functions (note this is not an exhaustive list of duties performed for this position):
- Represent the District and STAFFEZ in a professional manner by performing all job functions at a satisfactory or above level.
- Interact with co-workers, administration, students, parents, and the community in a positive supportive, and cooperative way.
- Performs other related duties, including special projects, as required, or requested, consistent with reasonable expectations for the contracted position.
- Assess, screen, and evaluate students and effectively share results with parents and educational staff, and participate in the eligibility determination process in accordance with state and school division requirements and best practices.
- Develop and implement individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with Speech/Language impairment and assists with IEPs for students with speech/language as a service on an annual basis or according to requirements.
- Selects children with communicative disorders for enrollment in therapy according to appropriate criteria and by state and federal guidelines.
- Maintain records and information concerning individual students in the prescribed confidential manner and using the records and information only for the purposes for which they are maintained according to FERPA guidelines.
- Communicate and collaborate with parents and the school community for the purpose of fostering individual student success and growth while engaging the families in the therapy program.
- Participate in various meetings for the purpose of addressing student goals and needs, and to meet laws and policies.
- Coordinates the implementation of goals/outcomes with the IEP team with a provision of continuum of services to students.
- Perform related duties as assigned by the administration in accordance with school district policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Completion of the required Global Compliance Network online training modules
- Demonstrated record of good attendance and punctuality.
- Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must meet criminal history background requirements (requires FBI Fingerprint and SOARS clearance).
- Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology
- Holding appropriate Tennessee certification license
- Demonstrated organizational skills as a School Psychologist
- Effective decision-making and verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in the use of computers including word processing, database, and spreadsheet operations.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the
provisions of the School Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels.
