Summary
The Penguin Computing Senior Director, Ultrascale Services will be focused on leading a broad team of operational and technical resources focused on the delivery and management of HPC/AI solutions for Penguin’s largest production customers/users. The operational aspects of this role focus on delivering outstanding levels of system availability and performance for our customer’s production environments – and meeting established SLAs for availability and throughput. The strategic aspects of this role focus on the development and delivery of new customer environments, new DevOps software capabilities and new customer-specific innovations to tailor the capabilities of each system to provide maximum value. This is a highly visible, customer-facing role working with some of the most advanced AI customers in the world – and delivering solutions using the latest CPU, GPU, network fabric, storage and software technologies on the market.

Position Reports to the Vice President, Cloud and Services for SGH Intelligent Platform Solutions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Overall Ultrascale Services team management, resource planning, and scheduling
- Manage daily engagement and reporting to Ultrascale customers – and drive a consistently positive perception of Penguin Solutions across numerous customer organizations. Develop strong relationship with customer influencers to ensure we continue to build a strong momentum.
- Attract, on-board, develop, and retain world-class talent for the growing team. Enable new employee ramp-up and ongoing professional development
- Track resource utilization, revenue & costs. Track third-party component maintenance and support agreements – and negotiate/purchase renewal plans as needed on behalf of customers to enable a complete and seamless support experience
- Prioritize resource allocation and assignments
- Advocate for resources with associated business planning data
- Participate in forward-looking project and resource planning to ensure alignment of team resources, capabilities and objectives
- Grow and enable a high-performing team
- Provide RFP/RFQ support to the Penguin sales organization
- Manage supplier and component quality measurement – and participate in regularly supplier meetings to drive two-way communication about issues, programs and upcoming deliverables
- Oversee the Penguin Ultrascale Services catalog and pricing
- Review discounts on services
- Review Statement of Deliverable (SOD) documentation
Experience/Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a Science field preferred
- Master’s Degree in Business, IT or Engineering a plus
- 8-10 years relevant experience
- Experience with HPC, AI, NVIDIA GPU technology/systems, InfiniBand networking, ethernet networking, and high performance storage are a plus
- Preferred 5 years managing a Services delivery team with P&L responsibilities
- Experience in putting in place the processes and procedures necessary to insure a scalable operations infrastructure with emphasis as a strong strategic and creative thinker having proven to have implemented these plans to drive shareholder value.
- Understanding of what it takes to build a successful services organization, implementing measurable metrics and initiatives, and setting an excellent example with employees, customers and stakeholders.
- Ability to lead and nurture teams; demonstrated ability to develop employees, recruit and build organizations.
- Strong skills with Word, Powerpoint, Excel, collaboration tools, Zoom/Teams and other office/business productivity tools
