As J&J continues to build its organizational strength and capabilities, we have identified a strategic opportunity to recruit for a Senior Accountant. This position will primarily be responsible for the accounting around Fixed Assets, Leases, and Tax related items such as personal property, sales & use tax, and unclaimed property. In addition to these areas, this position will be exposed to external reporting (10-K’s and 10-Q’s), as well as forecasting and financial planning and analysis (Capex budgeting and forecasting).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Create and monitor a system of controls, procedures, and forms for the recording of fixed assets.

· Recommend to management any updates to accounting policies related to fixed assets.

· Assign tag numbers to fixed assets.

· Record fixed asset acquisitions and dispositions in the accounting system.

· Track the compilation of project costs into fixed asset accounts and close out those accounts once the related projects have been completed.

· Reconcile the balance in the fixed asset subsidiary ledger to the summary-level account in the general ledger.

· Calculate depreciation for all fixed assets and prepare monthly journal entries.

· Review and update the detailed schedule of fixed assets and accumulated depreciation.

· Review, record, and update the lease software for any new or modified lease contracts.

· Implement and ensure compliance with SOX requirements as it relates to ASC 842 and related leases.

· Calculate asset retirement obligations for those fixed assets to which AROs are applicable.

· Investigate the potential obsolescence of fixed assets.

· Conduct periodic impairment reviews for intangible assets.

· Conduct periodic physical counts of fixed assets.

· Conduct analyses related to fixed assets as requested by management.

· Develop fixed asset and lease-related supporting workpapers for disclosures in 10-K and 10-Q including footnotes and MD&A

· Prepare audit schedules relating to fixed assets and assist the auditors in their inquiries.

· Prepare property tax returns

· Assist in the preparation and presentation of Capex budgeting and forecasting

· Assist in the overall preparation of external reporting documents (10-K’s, 10-Q’s, etc.)

· Analyzes IRS notices and drafts responses

· Performs tax research

· Prepares sales and use tax returns due to state and local jurisdictions

· Represent the company during any audits by a government that involve fixed assets.

· Track company expenditures for fixed assets in comparison to the capital budget and management authorizations.

Qualifications:

· CPA, or Master’s in accounting preferred

· 3+ years' experience of fixed asset accounting

· 2+ years’ of public accounting experience preferred

· ASC 842 technical accounting preferred

· Familiarity with SAGE Fixed Asset Systems & JDE

· Strong GAAP mostly as it relates to Capitalization Principles

· Ability to develop, analyze and present statistical data.

· Ability to work independently as well as with a team.

· Ability to follow through to completion, detail oriented

Technical Skills:

· Technical accounting research
