A DAY IN THE LIFE:

Senior Technical Writer will be responsible for planning, authoring, consolidating, and releasing formal technical documentation for embedded software of our next-generation insulin pumps.

• Works with engineering and non-engineering team members to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and documentation requirements.
• Plans, develops, organizes, writes, and edits software engineering documents appropriate for its intended audience, including:
  • Software Requirements Specifications
  • Software Architecture
  • Software Design Specifications
  • Software Test Plans
  • Software Verification and Validation Reports
  • Software Development Process
  • Software Release Notes
• Leads the creation, consolidation, review, and revision of content of other team members in the completion of required software engineering documentation.
• Creates clear and concise use case diagrams, functional flow charts, and other technical illustrations
• Reviews and analyzes currently published content and recommends revisions or changes in scope, format, reuse, and single-sourcing opportunities.
• Ensures accuracy and consistency of written content across multiple documents produced by software engineering teams.
• Collaborates closely with Document Control, Regulatory, and other teams to manage the submission, review, and approval of all engineering documents.
• Follows revision control procedures as defined by Tandem processes.
• Participates in the preparation, review, and presentation of documentation as part of regulatory or certification audits.
• At times, manages assignments of other technical writers through a vendor or as an individual contractor, ensuring on-time delivery and compliance with Tandem’s quality standards.

YOU’RE AWESOME AT:

• Expert in technical writing for software engineering organizations for a technology or medical company.
• Ability to quickly grasp complex technical and software engineering concepts and translate into easily understandable text and diagrams.
• Ability to assemble meaningful information from disparate sources.
• Experience working a in a fast-paced, agile (Scrum) software development environment.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to gather technical details and develop content.
• Ability to deliver high quality documentation with strong attention to detail.
• Extensive experience working with document content creation tools (i.e., Microsoft Word/PowerPoint, Adobe FrameMaker).
• Knowledgeable in Document Controls systems (i.e., Agile PLM).
• Knowledgeable in Atlassian software or similar tools (i.e., Jira & Confluence).
• Knowledgeable in Requirements Management and Test Case Management Systems (i.e., Jama).
• Excellent proofreading and fact-checking skills.

EXTRA AWESOME:

• Bachelor's degree in STEM or Communication or equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience.
• 8 years of technical writing experience for engineering organizations (writing samples in multiple formats will be requested)
