Staff Accountant Job Purpose:
To provide compassionate daily living care that enhances the lives of our Residents. Responsible for all aspects of Accounts Payable as well as Staff Accountant responsibilities in the accounting department.
Staff Accountant Job Description:
- Ensures proper authorization of vendor invoices prior to processing payment
- Performs accurate data entry of vendor invoices and remittance addresses
- Processes check run weekly and files AP paperwork
- Processes and reconciles petty cash transactions
- Processes ACH payments in accounting software and with the bank
- Enters journal entries including expense accruals
- Researches budgetary variances and assists with monthly reporting
- Files sales and use tax forms
- Maintains and reports 1099 records
- Reconciles bank, bond, and investment accounts and resolves differences
- Reconciles other balance sheet accounts as needed
- Daily deposits of resident accounts receivable as well as cash deposits
- Assists with annual audits, communicating and following up with auditors
- Understands and assists in documenting organizations internal controls
- Other duties as assigned
Staff Accountant Education/Skills/Qualifications:
- Must have ability to speak, read, and write English when communicating with residents, resident families and co-workers
- Experience with cloud-based accounting software preferred
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office with strong emphasis on Excel required
- Requires high school diploma or GED plus 3 years of experience in Accounts Payable
