A client of Insight Global is seeking a Recovery Accountant to sit remote in the Charleston, SC area. Our client is a real estate investment trust (REIT) focused on acquiring, developing and managing medical office buildings and outpatient facilities throughout the United States.

The position focuses on all accounting activities pertaining to common area maintenance (CAM). In collaboration with others across the organization calculate and analyze tenant reconciliations and estimate billings to ensure timeliness and accuracy in accordance with the executed lease document. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Assist in the month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing cycles, ensuring recorded transactions are in accordance with GAAP and internal policies and procedures and communicate exceptions to management
· Calculate year-end common area maintenance (CAM) reconciliations and estimate billings for tenants as dictated by the executed lease agreement
· Prepare and analyze monthly variance reports, comparing current period to budget and/or prior periods to identify tenant and operational impacts
· Advanced understanding of commercial lease structures their impact to the financial statements
· Translate the specific terms of individual executed lease and complete system recovery setups
· Deliver quality support and respond to CAM billing inquiries from tenants and the operations team as needed, including participation and facilitation of external CAM audits
· Understanding of and adherence to related SOX controls
· Complete ad hoc project work and other duties as assigned to contribute to company growth

Qualifications:

· Bachelor's Degree in Accounting with an understanding and familiarity of GAAP and SOX compliance
· 2+ years Commercial Property Accounting experience with exposure to CAM preferred
· Intermediate to advanced level knowledge with MS Excel, Word and Outlook, with experience in MRI or other equivalent system preferred
· Excellent deductive reasoning and problem solving skills in a fast-paced environment with a willingness to research; strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy
· Team player; willingness to help department meet goals and responsibilities

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
