Job description
The Fitter Welders inspects completed work for conformance to specifications and performs minor maintenance to equipment.
Schedule: Monday-Friday 2nd shift
Hours: 4pm-2:30am (Average hours 50-60 hours per week)
What You'll Do:
- Lay out and cut complex subassemblies or final product
· Previous fitting experience could come from pressure vessel companies or any other structural fitting, to include pipe fitting.
· Previous fitting experience could come from pressure vessel companies or any other structural fitting, to include pipe fitting.
- Fit and complete final welds and/or multi-pass welds
- Apply appropriate welding processes to join, surface, fabricate, and repair parts of metal or other weldable materials according to layouts, work orders, blueprints schematics, and sketches using manual and/or semi-automatic welding equipment
- May lay out and mark weld points on parts or subassemblies
- May position pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides, and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools
- May inspect completed work for conformance to specifications Observe all standard safety practices
· Knowledge and experience reading and interpreting blueprints along with a high level of knowledge and expertise using tape measures, levels, cutting torches, working with tight tolerances, and other related fitting experience
· Experience working at local utility structure shops (aka pole shops), such as Carolina High Mast (CHM) Sabre, Structural and Steel Products, Mica Steel, Falcon Steel, Fort Worth Tower, Valmont Industries is a plus!!!
What You'll Need
- Ability to successfully pass a 2G Flux Core (FCAW) weld test on 1” plate (bend test) 3/32 wire
- Flux Core experience is highly desired
- Experience welding or fitting utility structures or similar products is highly desired, but not required
- A high level of dependability, a great attitude, and an ability to work well with a team towards achieving a common goal
Qualifications
· Ability to successfully pass a 2G Flux Core (FCAW) weld test on 1” plate (bend test)
· Ability to adhere to all safety rules and practices
· Ability to read blueprints, layouts, schematics, or work orders
· The ability to maintain reliable and predictable good attendance
