JOB SUMMARY:
(PT Blodgett Technician) The part-time Blodgett Technician will be primarily responsible for maintaining the digital, photographic and foundation art studios housed in Blodgett Hall. In conjunction with the FT Klapper Fine Arts Center Technician, the part time Blodgett Technician will serve as the liaison between IT, the Art Department, and the OSHA Safety officer.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
A primary responsibility of the technician will be to provide technical support to faculty, staff, and students who wish to incorporate technology into their classrooms or studio practices.
Specifically, this part time technician will maintain the new digital print hub, which includes a large format printer, a desktop printer, and two 3-D printers, as well as assist students with Adobe Applications, print projects, and equipment check out.
They will also be responsible for maintaining the two mac labs, overseeing the student workers, and upkeeping all Blodgett studios, including the newly renovated darkroom, the lighting studio, the graphic design ideation studio, and Foundations' drawing and 2-D spaces.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaborate with faculty and other staff to solve problems.
Extensive understanding of Adobe digital applications, digital printing, and computer software.
EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
BFA in design, technology, photography, or digital art preferred.
H OURS:
This 11-month position comes with a salary of $17 per hour for a maximum of 20 hours per week depending on the needs of the Department and hourly staff's availability.
