Job Description:

The Duty Assistant will work with Summer Camp Teachers to supervise lunch, recess, nap, and play time. Their scheduled day is from 9:30am - 2:30pm, Monday through Friday, when camps are open. The Duty Assistant will assist with all age groups from PS-12 years, but will not be left to supervise children without a Camp Teacher present.

Responsibilities:

Supervise children while eating, playing, and at recess.

Complete necessary training prior to camps.

Maintain clean and sanitary work space.

Assist camp teachers with any task assigned for managing camps and students.

Work Period: May 30, 2023 - August 11, 2023 (Summer Position)

Hours - 9:15am-2:30pm, M-F, except when camp is closed for holidays

There are 53 work days for the summer 2023.

Education and Experience:

Must be 18yrs or older

Must complete required training (5 modules online through PDIS) on your own time prior to camp beginning, and provide documentation of completion

Essential Job Functions and skills:

1. Be on time for duty assignments.

2. Be flexible with tasking and receptive to requests from other staff members.

3. Read and understand the Summer Camps Operations manual.

4. Monitor and maintain teacher and student ratios.

Other Job Duties:

Maintain your own timesheet.

Attend training sessions as needed.

Any tasks that may arise related to the success of the summer camp program.

Many of the required duties will be outdoors; duty assistants should come to camp prepared to spend most of their time outside.

Relationships: The Summer Duty Assistant will work collaboratively with internal and external individuals and groups to ensure the enhancement of the camp operation.

This position requires the ability to present yourself in a professional manner, communicate, listen to others, observe others’ actions, read text and information, comprehend instructions and manuals, plan and organize, and physically move about the school.
