The Amazon One payments team builds payment solutions for Amazon's pioneer contactless payment product that enables customers to pay at physical stores through their palm. Amazon One provides an easier way to pay for your favorite things in seconds using your palm and simplifies the shopping experience. It is a magical experience that is redefining the biometrics based payments industry and is a first of its kind product. While we use existing Amazon systems when possible, you’ll be working on challenging problems that need innovative solutions for scaling across all Amazon’s brick and mortar store formats and at third party retailers. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Managing high security Payments server Infrastructure.
• Designing and integrating secure network connectivity with Payments partners.
• Analyzing and improving availability, efficiency, capacity, scalability, security and performance of Payments systems.
• Developing and maintaining operations tools.
• Ownership of many production components.
• Monitoring of production applications, including designing and implementing automated methods to monitor production applications.
• Troubleshooting and resolving problems with production systems.
• Documenting production systems.
• Representing Amazon One Payments while working with internal teams and external banking/financial partners.

System Development Engineers are expected to have a strong sense of ownership of one or more areas while being encouraged to specialize in related specific areas (like tools programming, security or networking).

• C/C++/Java and Web Services programming.
• Prior experience in product development is a huge plus.
• Performance tuning (especially web servers, middleware and databases (Oracle preferred)
• Expert knowledge of application and infrastructure security.
• Database programming and administration.

The pay range for this position in Jersey City is $ 129,200 - 174,800 /yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per the Pay Transparency Regulation of Jersey City Municipal Code. Base pay information is based on market location.
