Teacher, Assistants for Infant/Toddler Room
Job description
The Teacher, and Assistants, in the Infant and Toddler rooms are responsible for the safety and well-being of the infants and toddlers in their classroom. Supervise and maintain a clean environment for the children in the classroom, assuring to follow feeding, changing, and nap schedules each day. All team members must also demonstrate a commitment to our YMCA philosophy and core values (caring, honesty, respect and responsibility).
Positions open in our Freehold preschool child care center.
Morning and Afternoon shifts available; no weekends; Fun environment and Membership to the YMCA
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Be responsible for the health and safety of the children in our program at all times.
- Ensure that the children are released only to the custodial parent/guardian or person authorized by the custodial parent/guardian.
- Ensure that children are signed-in/signed-out properly on a daily basis.
- Create a safe, clean, fun, and supportive learning environment to assist infants and toddlers in meeting appropriate milestones.
- Meet the individual and group needs of the children.
- Supervise children at all times, following their daily feeding, changing, nap and active playtime.
- Communicate daily with supervisor, co-workers, and the parents daily using the communication platform on your assigned iPad.
- Understand and implement emergency procedures of your site. Be familiar with resources such as emergency cards, medical forms and allergy lists.
- Behave as a role model demonstrating YMCA philosophy and values.
- Supervise proper clean-up by ensuring that games/toys put away, tables are washed and disinfected.
- Maintain punctuality, good attendance and appropriate attire.
- Report any suspected child abuse to Director. Document as necessary.
- Attend all staff meetings and mandatory trainings.
- Conduct self in a professional manner at all times with children, parents, co-workers, school personnel, and community.
- Address all parental and behavioral concerns with the Supervisor/Director.
- Report any accidents or physical concerns and Document as necessary.
- Assume and perform all other duties deemed necessary by your Supervisor and/or The YMCA Administration.
Physical Demands
- Ability to hear the conversational voice with or without a hearing aid.
- Ability to see with or without corrective lenses.
- Ability to speak and be understood under normal circumstances.
- Ability to lift and carry children in an emergency, change diapers, lift into a carriage, as well as lift and move classroom furniture.
- Ability to use arms, legs, and feet to accomplish the job.
- Ability to evacuate the building during emergencies.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions as well.

QUALIFICATIONS:
The incumbent must be at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma and at least 1 year experience working with children. The incumbent must have a warm and friendly personality, be sensitive toward the feelings and needs of others, be able to relate well to young children, be mature, feel comfortable changing diapers and feeding infants, be responsible and organized.
