About the role
We are looking for a Technician- Instrumented Protective Systems to support the implementation, commissioning and auditing of the Safety Critical Process Control Systems across the Rio Tinto Kennecott Copper value stream.
This role is a great opportunity for a professional who has experience in process instrumentation, industrial control systems, and process safety management to influence and communicate effectively with key stakeholders. Reporting to the Senior Engineer – Instrumented Protective Systems, you will be:
- Identifying defects and provide feedback on asset performance and health.
- Providing technical support to the operational teams managing the process safety risk.
- Developing, implementing and tracking critical safety verifications relating to instrumentation and process control across many different process areas.
- Implementing/Supporting the Process Safety Management program as it applies within the control system.
- Providing the technical expertise for the control system equipment across departments within Rio Tinto’s Salt Lake City facilities.
About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- 2+ years of experience as an Instrumentation Technician
- Experience in developing process controls narrative
- Experience re-evaluating risk assessments after mitigation
- Experience in Process Control design for PSM
- Must be able to read drawings: schematic, wiring diagrams, loop drawings, process flow drawings
It will also be beneficial if you have:
- Experience in commissioning and startup of industrial control systems
- Experience in troubleshooting industrial control systems; including but not limited to trouble shooting field devices as well as control system hardware
