The Monument Event Production Rigger
Job description
The Monument Rigger I provides clients with technical and production support assisting with all aspects of entertainment rigging related to a production while maintaining the integrity of the artistic concept and adhering to Best Practice Safety Standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned:
Rigger I:
- With supervision, actively participates in the set up and tear down of all rigging systems and other applicable gear for concerts, touring shows, lectures/seminars, banquets, conferences, expos, meetings, receptions, weddings, etc.
- Responsible for compliance with the safety and security procedures and for continually seeking to improve efficiency and safety within the rigging department and overall production.
- Work with others in the completion of assigned tasks to achieve effective time and resource utilization.
- Provide in-house technical production assistance to renters.

- Understand safety aspects of hanging loads.
- Knowledge of basic rigging hardware terms and processes.
- Ability to tie knots: Bowline, clove hitch, half hitch, figure 8.
- Understand proper use of all arrest systems.
- Ability to understand emergency response guidelines.
Education and/or Experience: Ability to perform semi-skilled manual labor at heights in excess of 55 feet, follow oral and written instructions and demonstrate skill in operating equipment described in the essential functions.
Communication Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret stage plans, drawings, operating manuals, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills: Basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and trigonometry.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

The employee must be able to climb and work at heights in excess of 55 feet. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud. Also includes moving on uneven surfaces, frequently climbing stairs and ladders, and able to work at heights and in tight spaces.
Preferred qualifications: Entertainment production related certifications or training will be given preferred consideration. These include: ETCP Electrician, ETCP Arena Rigger, ETCP Theatre Rigger, SPRAT, Lodestar, Columbus-McKinnon.
OSHA 10 & 30 hour general industry or construction certificates
