Job description
Tissue Bank Specialist Responsibilities include:
Facilitate life by enhancing tissue donation by following organization and industry standards.
Ensure that all regulations are adhered to regarding tissue procurement.
Maintain a positive environment within hospitals so that tissue donation is seen as a beneficial process.
Arrange for the transportation of recovered bone and tissue to designated destination and sometimes coordinate with eye and skin banks.
Coach and train new team members on back table procedures, as assigned.
- MD, RN, Surgical Technician, EMT or equivalent.
- 1-2 years related experience and/or training preferred.
- CTBS certification (Certified Tissue Bank Specialist) preferred.
- Must have a car and be able to travel within our Greater New York service area (NYC and surrounding counties).
- Good knowledge of human anatomy/function and basic medical terminology is necessary.
- Knowledge of surgical aseptic technique and demonstrated ability to work in a sterile operating room setting required.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer services skills essential.
