Job description
1. Identify, prepare and organize samples for laboratory analyses conducted on site.
2. Troubleshoot and resolve specimen accessioning issues in preparation for specimen analysis.
3. Serve as a key operator responsible for the AU instrumentation, reagents, work processes, sample analyses and inventory management.
4. Perform AU680/5800 instrumentation maintenance, quality control tests, and calibrations.
5. Resolve routine and non-routine assay problems and ensure validity of test results through the performance of established quality assurance and quality control procedures.
6. Independently perform College of American Pathologist (CAP) Proficiency Surveys.
7. Independently perform and trouble-shoot automated urine toxicology drugs of abuse assay procedures on the AU680/5800 automated chemistry analyzers.
8. Organize, review, report, store, and archive laboratory data in accordance with approved SOPs, quality control guidelines, or supervisory guidance.
9. Ensure that work requirements are completed in a timely, organized manner to very high standards and in compliance with protocols, SOP’s, regulatory guidelines.
10. Ensure that facilities, equipment, supplies, and reagents are maintained and used in a safe manner and administered in accordance with applicable safety, occupational health, and environmental protection guidelines, policies, and regulations.
11. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the field of medical technology and those techniques and instrumentation applicable to the conduct of laboratory procedures, laboratory safety, good laboratory practice, and management and reporting of clinical pathology data.
12. Maintain proficiency with laboratory information systems used in the laboratory to ensure accurate capture, analysis, tabulation and storage of data and data audit trails.
13. Train other laboratory staff or personnel to perform assays or operate instrumentation as requested.
14. Responsible for reading and keeping up to date with all required SOP’s.
15. Responsible for completing all media lab continuing education courses.
16. Other duties as assigned.
