Job description
Technical Site Support, (TSS), is a working field service consultant responsible for maintaining quality standards of Siemens Energy field service work, self-performing warranty repairs, environment, safety, and the overall performance of crew / contractors on field projects. The TSS is the primary on site expert in assembly, service, and repair of transformers, although the TSS may be assigned other work individually or as part of a larger group at an electrical substation or power plant. The TSS is responsible for the successful execution of projects, both technically and administratively. The TSS is expected to take decisive and/or corrective action for the well-being of the onsite personnel, environment, project, equipment, customer and/or the organization.
- Direct Siemens Energy crews, vendors/sub-contractors assigned to projects to perform duties in accordance with local, customer, industry and corporate laws, regulations and/or standards
- Ensure projects are on-time, within budget performance of assigned projects. He/she is responsible to obtain budget parameters of assigned projects, including scope of work, hours/days budgeted, allowed expenses, and anticipated vendor/subcontractor delivery requirements, coordination of heavy equipment, tankers, test equipment and various vendors, ensure vehicles, tools, equipment, and materials are in safe, operating order and perform daily, weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance service, inventory, and corrective repairs with his/her crew
- Maintain effective communication with site contact for coordination and project management, including daily updates, written and/or verbal, with NRM, including project changes, safety reviews (i.e., tailgate meetings), safety incidents (near misses, safety violations, environmental incidents, security incidents), work scope changes, etc.
- The TSS ensures the reassembly, vacuum, oil fill, & testing is completed per the factory’s recommendations and deviations were not taken that could jeopardize the warranty
- The TSS provides technical support and proper installation sequence of accessories
- The TSS is responsible for communication between the field and factory for progress and issues. On behalf of the factory the TSS retains ownership and responsibility of the equipment until customer has signed the documentation accepting the final product
Job Requirements:
- Must possess 8+ years of combined field service technical assembly, maintenance and repair of power and distribution transformers/transformer accessories in the utility/energy electrical industry. Special skill set in one or combined Distribution, Power, and Transmission electrical substation equipment in power ranges of Low Voltage (4160V – 13kV), Medium Voltage (13kV – 69kV) and High Voltage (69kV – 800 kV) will be highly preferred
- Bachelor’s degree, High School diploma, GED or technical vocational or apprenticeship training, combined with prior transformer field service or equivalent related experience
- Must have high level field supervisory skills not only to direct crew members and subcontractors as assigned, but to provide a healthy and environmentally friendly work environment.
- Must be able to provide technical instructions regarding required tasks, to crew and subcontractors, the safe and correct assembly, maintenance of power and distribution transformers and transformer accessories. This includes interpretation and following work scope, assembly, general arrangement drawings, electrical prints and one-line diagrams as well as test data and factory instruction manual
- Must be able to perform and direct personnel with the safe and correct operation of transformer oil processor including the performance of vacuum, oil filling, circulating, and draining of oil-filled power and distribution transformers, as well as document the process as required
- Must be able to train members of Siemens Energy team as well as other Siemens Energy personnel on all aspects of transformer field service
- Must have strong commercial and industrial electrical wiring and troubleshooting skills as well as strong transformer electrical testing and troubleshooting skills
