Job Requirements

• Drives various commercial vehicles (as licensed) between fabrication shops and job sites
• Secures load using proper techniques, choosing the appropriate method (chains, straps, etc.)
• Ensures that loads are properly secured for over-the-road transportation and that no part of the load can become dislodged during transport
• Responsible for recognizing hazards and unsafe conditions when preparing loads (throwing chains over loads, etc.)
• Maintains safe driving speed and obeys all traffic laws and speed limits
• Maintains safe operation of vehicles on job sites, maneuvering loads using proper safety guidelines (road guards, guides, etc.) and pre-planning the on-site delivery of loads
• Operates knuckle boom (only if properly trained to do so)
• Ensures that material being moved is within weight restrictions for the lifting equipment
• Ensures that loads are properly supported and secured using appropriate chains, clamps, dogs, etc.
• Ensures that no material is being hoisted over people in the area
• Uses horns and warning devices to alert employees of approaching loads
• Ensures a clear path from point of origin to final destination

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent
• Must have a valid Class A Commercial Drivers License
• 2+ years of solid CDL experience
• Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language
• Must meet the DOT and company mental and physical requirements and must be able to perform the essential job functions
• Must maintain an acceptable driving record
• Flatbed experience a plus
• Must pass criminal background check and drug test.
