POSITION SUMMARY
The Tubing Assembler is responsible for planning the layout and installing tubing based on job specifications. The Tubing Assembler reports to the Assembly Operations Supervisor.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands, fingers, handle, or grasp; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or listen. Close-up vision abilities required. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds without assistance. Any lifting over 50 pounds is required to be done with assistance.
The noise levels in some manufacturing facilities frequently may exceed the normal dBA. The employee is required to wear necessary protection (foot, eye, ear, etc.) in the plant. Work conditions may include elevated noise levels requiring hearing protection and extreme temperatures, both high and low. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold and extreme heat.
Normal working schedule: Monday through Thursday, 6:00AM to 4:30PM EST, with occasional overtime and weekend hours required at times.

JOB FUNCTIONS
Include the following, but other duties may apply.
- Assemble and install tubes using the tube bending machine.
- Connect tubes to compressor units, modules, or other components.
- Plan layout and installation of tubing, equipment, and components based on job specifications.
- Prepares sketches showing location of tubing and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed tubing is installed before other components/parts are installed.
- Measure, cut, bend, and install tubing per BCI quality standards.
- Clean/Deburr tube ends to ensure that no debris remains in the tube.
- Swage ends of tubing using single or double ferrule fittings.
- Inspect tubing to ensure it is free of defects and meets BCI quality standards.
- Organize and maintain inventory levels to distribute to assembly personnel when needed.
- Replace tooling on machinery and tube bending equipment.
- Assemble units using standard hand and power tools to include air-powered tools by reading from schematics, drawings and diagrams.
- Communicate effectively to their immediate supervisor the status of needed parts to produce units.
- Maintain change documentation.
- Perform preventative maintenance of machinery when needed.
- Able to program and clone tubing when required.
- Flexible with working in any assigned area in assembly when needed.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- High school education or equivalent; OR one year of related experience.
- General understanding of piping, tubing (stainless steel) swaging.
- Can adapt and thrive in a constantly changing environment.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics for placement of parts.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting standard measuring devices such as tape measures, scales, squares, etc.
- Able to convert between fractional measurements to decimals.
- Able to convert metric and imperial units of measurement.
- Able to navigate efficiently through files/folders on computer systems.
- Able to identify and safely operate standard hand, power and air tools.
- Able to follow directions and work independently.
- Possess high quality standards.
VALUED BUT NOT REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Previous manufacturing or automotive experience a plus.
- Previous tubing assembly experience.
- Experience in CNC programming a plus.
