General Position Summary

The Captain will be ultimately responsible for moving barges, and other vessels from one location to another on the project site.

Typical Duties:

· Ultimately responsible for the safe transport on any cargo on board, the crew, the passengers and the care of the vessel.

• Making multiple movements of material barges, crane barges, and or other vessels in the water channels of the Portsmouth Marine Terminal area.
• Will be direct supervisor of deckhands.
• Captain must ensure compliance with the rules and regulations of the Coast Guard, environment agency and maritime law, as applicable.

Requirements:

Must have valid Master Captain License

Knowledge of SMS & HSSEQ maritime practices

Computer, organizational, and communications skills

Must have at least 3 years experience in moving barrages and vessels.

Strong attention to detail

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Performance and results driven.

Excellent decision-making and problem solving skills.

Able to work individually and as part of a team

Ability to work after hours and on weekends as necessary

Must have valid TWIC and or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of employment

Ability to handle multiple projects and details simultaneously.
