UI/UX Designer
Remote
This is a part-time 50% role and not a full-time role.
All candidates must have lived in the US at least three (3) out of the last five (5) years prior in order to be considered.
The ideal candidate will be responsible to design user interfaces, with an emphasis on clarity and usability, using human-centered design principles and participatory and iterative design techniques/tools (e.g., conceptual diagrams/scenarios, wireframes, prototypes, design specifications, usability testing).
The ideal candidate will have experience working in a fast-paced environment, with customers, analysts, developers, and architects. The candidate will be able to make deliberate UI design decisions and to translate any given user-experience journey into a smooth and intuitive interaction. Creating, improving and using wireframes, prototypes, style guides, user flows to effectively communicate interaction ideas.
A great team player, who is experienced in participating and contributing to interdisciplinary project-based teams, proactive in obtaining feedback and information to drive design engagements and decisions.
Basic Qualifications
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong teamwork, ability to multi-task and a strong commitment to client service.
- Hands-on experience creating wireframes, prototypes, storyboards, user flows, etc. Knowledge and experience with UX processes and user testing.
- Understanding of basic front-end languages: HTML5, CSS3, and Javascript.
- Experience using design tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Adobe Dreamweaver, etc.
- Creative ideas with problem solving mindset. Experience working in an agile/scrum development process.
Desired skills
- Bootstrap UI framework.
- Demonstrated understanding of web standards and accessible design (508 compliance).
- Experience working with Jira & Confluence.
- Fluent in responsive design.
- Demonstrated experience as key interaction/visual designer of a UI/UX team throughout the software development cycle.
- Experience working with federal customers.
Typical Minimums
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 8 years of professional experience, or 6 years of professional experience with a related Master’s degree.
- 6-10 years of UX design experience (and the portfolio to prove it).
