Job Description:
The Utility Line Locator position performs support functions for surveys, inspections, and construction projects on oil and gas, chemical, and municipal underground facilities. Under the direction of a company supervisor, a Utility Line Locator performs work that involves visual inspection of a project area while using special electronic equipment to detect and locate any buried utilities.
Specific duties include but are not limited to the following:
- This position will be responsible for locating buried utilities for various projects, and providing labor assist to crews doing surveys and construction projects. Duties include walking pipeline using electronic locators to find buried utilities, walking inspections of right of way, driving company vehicles, using hand tools, and heavy lifting, among others.
- Position may require frequent overnight stay out of town
- Must be physically fit and able to walk cross country for 3-5 miles per day
- Work well in a team environment, interacting with clients and coworkers
- Able to provide additional paid training for strong candidates with limited experience.
Job Requirements:
- Must be able to operate different electronic detection equipment, to locate and mark under-ground facilities within required accuracy limits
- Possess operating knowledge on pipe locating devices
- Familiar with using hand and power tools, including shovels, wrenches, drills, grinders, etc
- Must be authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without the requirement of a work visa
- Must be at least 18 years old and able to speak, read and write English proficiently, and must have the minimum of a high school diploma or GED
- Willing to work overtime and weekends with frequent overnight travel required, 75%-100%
- Willing to work outside in inclement weather with or without accommodation
- Normal level visual acuity and normal hearing ability required
- Ability to walk distances of 3 mile+ in cross-country terrain
- Possess a current, valid WV Class D or equivalent drivers license to operate a motor vehicle in the United States with no major driving infractions
- All candidates must pass pre-employment drug testing, along with random drug testing
- Willing to support and comply with the company's safety policies and operational standards
- This position will be responsible for all other duties as assigned by management.
