Veterans Enrollment Specialist

In this role you will:The Veterans Enrollment Specialist/VA School Certifying Official serves as a VA School Certifying Official (SCO) and certifies students' state and federal veterans' education benefits. Demonstrated experience certifying veterans' education benefits is required. This position also is responsible for conducting recruitment and outreach opportunities focused on the recruitment of veterans and military-connected students. The incumbent will visit community colleges and veterans' organizations to meet with prospective students with emphasis on developing opportunities to support the enrollment of veterans and military-connected students. Ability to maintain confidentiality as required by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and maintain compliance with other applicable state and federal laws. Must be customer service focused, proficient with and comfortable learning new technology, and proficient with Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, Word, Access, and Outlook).
Minimum Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree.
- Based on position requirements, additional education, training, and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position, may be required.
- Serves as a VA School Certifying Official (SCO) and certifies veterans' education benefits in compliance with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) statutes, regulations, and guidelines.
- Uses Ellucian Banner, Cognos, VA Once, GAP Access, and other systems to determine benefit eligibility and to certify and report veterans' benefits.
- Interacts with the Financial Aid, Student Payment Services, and Controller's offices to ensure accurate and timely processing of veterans' benefits.
- Maintains the Veterans Services Office web pages and related social media to ensure accurate and timely information to prospective and enrolled veterans and military-connected students.
- In collaboration with the Undergraduate, Transfer, and Graduate Admission areas, identifies recruitment and outreach opportunities and represents Northeastern at appropriate community college fairs, visits, and other events.
- Delivers programming, including transition workshops, orientations, and other content areas relevant to prospective and currently enrolled veteran and military-connected students to assist with a smooth transition to the University and with the success and retention of enrolled students.
- Advises all prospective veteran and military-connected students individually, in groups, via e- mail, telephone, and text messaging regarding admission and pre-enrollment information, provides new student transition information, as well as information about academic requirements and transfer of credit for military service.
- Uses the CRM for recruitment, enrollment tracking, communication, and events.
- Supports other Enrollment Services offices by assisting with tasks as situations demand.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Range:$46,800

off plans, and participation in the State Universities Retirement System.
Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (Hours may vary depending on departmental needs)
