Ark Animal Hospital is hiring one full time (38 - 40 hours/week) Veterinary Assistant for our small animal general practice. Availability required during open hours Monday through Saturday, hours vary depending on scheduling of other staff. We are looking for a responsible, reliable, caring, outgoing, self-motivated individual. Recommended veterinary experience is 6 months. Recent veterinary assistant program graduates encouraged.

Description:

* Medical Experience Requirements: patient handling, vaccine administration, nail trimming, anal gland expression, history and temperature taking, assisting technician or doctor during treatment & procedures.

* Customer Service Experience Requirements: answering telephones and computer use, medical record keeping, client education, invoicing & payment collection, estimate review, and client interaction.

* Duties may include but are not limited to: greeting clients, scheduling appointments, checking in/out patients, medication preparation, medical record documentation, removal of sutures, staples and drains, ear cleaning and medication demonstration to client, administer subcutaneous injections, surgical instrument clean, pack, & autoclave, restocking, assisting before, during, & after surgery and dentistry, running laboratory tests, hospital maintenance and cleaning.

* Willing to learn new skills or already know how to draw blood, give intramuscular and intravenous injections, place IV catheters, perform cystocentesis, surgical and dental assisting

*Must be able to lift 30lbs food or pets; restrain pets on the floor

Qualifications:

* Gentle, patient, and understanding of client and patient needs

* Organized, thorough, and detail oriented, professional, team player

* Good written and verbal communication skills

* We are a paper light practice and medical record keeping is electronic using Cornerstone

Compensation:

* Hourly wages based on experience.

* Benefits: Medical & Dental health care up to $300, Pet Care discounts, Uniform Allowance, and paid holidays after 90 days of service; paid vacation after 12 months of service, 401k after 12 months and 1000 hours of service, paid sick leave as required by law.
