Due to growth, Wealth Enhancement Group has an exciting opportunity for a Vice President, Trading to be directly responsible for establishing and executing against the strategic vision for the Trading Team. This role will lead a growing team of traders, establish a strategic framework and provide the leadership and vision to achieve our goals. As a key leader, this individual will partner with advisor teams and corporate leadership to develop trusted partnerships, contemplate contracts across systems, demonstrate financial stewardship, and lead trading operations. The Vice President, Trading will also work directly and collaboratively with the organization’s Investment Management leadership to provide strategic input. This individual can work remotely within the U.S. with occasional travel to our corporate headquarters in Minneapolis.
Job Functions
Development of strategic vision for trading current and future state
- Determine department KPIs and establish individual team member performance accountability to achieve
- Analyze economic trends, assess risk, and communicate with business partners about recent trading trends to inform business decisions
- Participate in Agile Team development and user experience testing
- In partnership with IM Strategy, support development of trading model composition
- Determine optimal resource allocation within the trading team
Implement process improvements
- Constantly mine for opportunities to automate / drive efficiencies. Recommend automated trade team process solutions
- Enhance existing processes and create new processes
- Create protocol when appropriate
- Evaluate trading system functionality to optimize present efficiency and future enhancement
Provide team leadership
- Represent trading across WEG
- Partner with advisors to develop trust and demonstrate mastery / proficiency
- Oversee acquisition due diligence process
- Partner with custodians when appropriate.
- Oversee training for new advisors
Manage large projects
- IM Program Menu implementation
- Trade errors – review current process and improve effectiveness
- Improve data collection
- Developing improved methods to track and report on trading output
Execution
- Display an understanding of financial markets and trading mechanics, applies working knowledge for exceptional trade execution
- Display deep knowledge of Wealth Enhancement Group’s investment philosophy
- Demonstrate familiarity of WEG managed portfolios, securities, able to accurately update model portfolios within rebalancing software
- Actively manages large scale trading processes including portfolio revisions, model integrity rebalancing, tax implication reviews, advisor reviewed trade proposals and household rebalancing
- Review and validate workflow process and technology changes
- Resolve open disputes, issues, and inquiries
Education/Qualifications:
- 10+ years experience in a strategic or visionary capacity, such as business management or operational leadership
- 3+ years experience in trading, ideally at an RIA, including managing a Trade Desk
- Proven track record with process improvement
- Experience with Orion, Eclipse, and ASTRO preferred
- Exceptional interpersonal communication skills
- Self-driven with ability to work independently
- Highly proficient in executive communication
