This position is full time, based in Chicago and will include both remote and in-office work as well as travel.
Role Summary
The Video Producer will be responsible for bringing creativity and technical skills in concepting, producing, filming, and editing a full range of video projects, from commercial, to graphic/animated, to corporate event recap videos, and various styles of scripted and non-scripted formats. This person creatively ideates during pre-production, facilitates on-location production, shoots/edits (if skills allow) and oversees full post-production workflow for video content across all platforms. They have an eye for storytelling and design and are able to think creatively and critically. They tell engaging stories and are able to go the extra mile to ensure factual accuracy.
This position will be a contributing member of the Studio Sage team and reports directly to the General Manager.
Responsibilities
- Lead point of contact for planning, coordination, and execution of pre and post-production services
- Participate in the strategic planning, budgeting, and production of strong video content, while delivering excellent client service
- Budget video projects, develop shot lists & story boards, create schedules, shoot live action (studio or on-location), and oversee post-production workflow
- Assign resources and hire freelance talent, vendors, and production crews; organize crew assignments and manage all related contracts, waivers, permits, invoices and releases as needed
- Ability to shoot various styles of content on location and in the studio including unscripted docu-style, commercial-style shoots, product marketing, corporate recap, social, and long-form videos
- Serve as on-site producer and videographer to capture footage at external and internal events & conferences
- Manage several projects concurrently, while making each client feel like their project is a priority
- Provide strong communication in all areas: writing production or creative briefs, providing kick off call recap messaging, sharing updates with the clients and team, providing feedback, and writing clear, concise messaging
- Offer solutions that go beyond the expectations of the client, making the client feel as though they are safe hands
- Proactively seek out opportunities to continue to learn and develop skills.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- 5+ years experience in all aspects of creative video production and associate media
- 4+ years of relevant video/content shooting and editing experience in the field or in an agency/production house environment
- Bachelor's degree in film, video, multi-media or similar strongly preferred.
- Production reel and/or example links available upon request
- Proven track record of successfully delivering project on time, on budget, and on strategy
- Experience with post-production software(s) and post-production workflows including Adobe Premier Pro, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Audition, DaVinci Resolve, DaVinci Fusion
- Proficient in any/all areas of studio cameras, video elements, audio packages, and lighting set-ups including but not limited to Sony A7 Cameras, Sony FS7, FX6 & FX9, RED KOMODO, Sony PTZ Cameras, Shure Axient Wireless, Sound Devices Mixers, ETC Lighting, Elation Lighting, Blackmagic Cameras, Blackmagic Atem Switchers, DJI Ronin Gimbals, and Tilta Follow Focus Units
- Experience in media management, codecs, file types, and design files for video and graphic elements
- Experience in an agency or collaborative office and project management structure with multi-disciplinary departments
- Experience in working with union labor, AV crews, and specialized technical operators
- Experience managing freelance and vendors - high proficiency in standard industry freelance rates and freelance contract negotiations
- Comfortable with direct end-client communications and expectation management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in working with Fortune 500 level CEOs and Executives, celebrity talent, musicians, artist groups, and keynote/guest speakers
- High proficiency in the G-Suite line of products, as well as Excel, Word, PPT, and Shoflo (or other virtual ROS resources)
- Experience with broadcast tools, web streaming protocols, and vMix (or similar) a plus
- Strong attention to detail and displays confidence based on experience
- Desire to improve and grow, with the ability to accept feedback
