Volunteer Coordinator Assistant
For over 35 years, The Hospice of Baton Rouge has been meeting the end-of-life care needs of individuals throughout our 7-parish area and is the oldest continuously operating non-profit hospice provider in Baton Rouge.
The Hospice of Baton Rouge is seeking a full time Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator Assistant to work closely with our Clinical Care, Social Support Services and Marketing teams to assist with patient care and community support needs.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Previous experience with hospice preferred or thorough understanding of hospice concepts and services in working with non-paid staff
- Minimum 3-5 years current experience in strong administrative office support and clerical skills
- Must possess excellent phone skills with superior communication skills both verbal and written., must be process driven, and have a keen attention to detail with excellent organization and time management skills
- Must exhibit strong, competent computer skills including MS Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, and other Window applications
- Must be able to adapt to changing priorities and work well with all levels of management
Responsibilities:
- Maintain awareness of recruitment statistics daily, seeking opportunities to improve efforts for urgent assistance needed for patient care support or any other community events and projects
- Assist with recruiting volunteers to increase numbers in networking and being a part of outreach events as directed
- Interact directly with volunteers by face-to-face engagement, telephone communication, email correspondence, etc.
- Conduct and participate with volunteer orientation and training processes following hospice guidelines and compliance regulations
- Screening to solicit feedback on volunteer and community experiences to ensure failures are addressed and any other opportunities are considered to change issues.
- Develop volunteer recreation activity plans based on volunteer feedback; implement programs and train staff to continue providing recreation activities for patients, families, and community engagement
- Assist with developing volunteer satisfaction improvements
- Monitor recruitment metrics and utilize the data to assist in recruitment efforts to formulate plans to improve volunteer engagement and satisfaction to decrease volunteer no-show rates, screening processes, orientation, patient -volunteer assignments, etc.
- Assist with planning, directing, and implementing the recruitment and retention of volunteers including onboarding of all new/potential volunteers (making initial contact, processing application, activating volunteers).
- Responsible for developing, coordinating, and participating in the orientation, continuing education, and training for volunteers.
- Assist with assigning volunteers who meet program needs and patient interests and skills (direct patient care, administration/clerical, Bereavement support, and special events).
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour

Education:
