The Warehouse/Distribution Manager is responsible for proper receipt, warehousing and inventory control of raw materials and finished goods. This position overseas daily sales order picking, packing and distribution activity. Monitor processes and procedures for areas of continuous improvement and an optimally efficient running warehouse. Manages inventory control and kitting activities for all production work cells. Oversees the movement or flow of materials through the plant, from overseeing the receiving of materials and supplies, to warehousing and stocking, to shipping finished products.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Directly supervises the Shipping/Receiving Foreman, Freight Coordinator and Inventory Control Clerk, indirectly responsible for customer satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Maintain receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Maintain physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing layouts changes.
  • Responsible for following OSHA requirements and guidelines.
  • Effectively monitor flow of goods and ensure FIFO method is followed in order picking.
  • Implement and manage continuous improvement of warehouse principals by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices and processes.
  • Efficient problem solving by considering the multiple sides of an issue and weighing consequences before making the final decision.
  • Demonstrate openness to new ideas and processes and adjust your approach to achieve results.
  • Maintain the highest standards of customer service by immediately attending to and resolving customer issues in regard to product dispatch.
  • Work closely with Customer Care department to ensure customer’s shipping requirements are being met and shipment deadlines are adhered to.
  • Develop process improvements and ERP system changes for efficiency.
  • Keeping stock control systems up to date and planning future capacity requirements.
  • Control inventory levels by conducting physical counts; reconciling with ERP system.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
  • Maintain warehouse/shipping staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with the Operations Supervisors and Production Planner to ensure customer satisfaction and on-time delivery.
  • Complete special projects as assigned on-time.
  • Perform additional, related duties as needed.

Preferred

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).

  • Strong verbal and written communications; able to draft policy and procedures relative to management responsibilities; ability to present information in a succinct and clear fashion.

  • Proficient with business management or enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.

  • In-depth knowledge of medical devices and supplies.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • Minimum of 5 years of warehouse management experience, preferably in a manufacturing and distribution environment

  • Experience with freight carriers and freight management

  • Minimum of 5 years inventory control experience

High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
