Our network of 101 food pantries, 20 affordable housing sites, and 15 JCCs provide services directly in neighborhoods across New York.
Position Summary:
The Warehouse Worker will assist Met Council’s kosher food warehouse in its food banking operation. Responsibilities include handling incoming deliveries, pick-ups, creating orders, moving product, unloading vehicles, loading vehicles, assisting drivers on deliveries and cleaning the warehouse.
Principal Responsibilities:

• Load and unload trucks and vans.
• Accept incoming orders and breakdown orders.
• Picking and Packing to fill orders.
• General warehouse clean up, including sweeping warehouse.
• Assist in delivery of orders to food pantries including unloading product from truck to pantry.
• Assist manager in all operations of the warehouse as needed.
• Operate forklift and other machinery.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.

Competencies:

• Warehouse experience

Skill and Education:

• Ability to lift up to 60 lb sacks
• Read/write/speak English

Physical Demands:
1. Required Constantly: Walking, sitting, grasping, bending, stooping, squatting, computer input, finger dexterity and coordination of hand, eye and foot
2. Required Frequently: Standing and climbing stairs; carrying laptop & files (approx. 8-10 lbs)
3. Required Occasionally: Reaching above the shoulder, and lifting 5-25 pounds, pushing and pulling
Special Requirements:

• A lot of standing and walking.
• Position entails a lot of manual labor both indoors and outdoors.
• Possible outside work during periods of inclement weather.

Compensation: $18.50 - $19.50 per hour
